The attached photo was taken around late 1909 and, as noted on the back of the photo. There is an ink mark next to my great-uncle in the middle of the photo (it may be a bit hard to find it). His name was William Joseph Byrnes but was usually known as Doss Byrnes (or Burns) and it says that he was a member of petone Rowing Club. He lived in Fitzherbert Street, Petone from about 1907 to about 1912. He also fought some Middleweight and Welterweight title fights in NZ around 1910 and 1911.
